SMT Pallet Cleaning | Conformal Coating Removal | Automated Fixture Washing
When an overseas customer needed to find an effective solution for removing conformal coating residue from their SMT production pallets, they chose to send their actual production pallets to the ACTSPRAY factory in China for a cleaning trial.
The Customer’s Cleaning Challenge
During SMT production, pallets and fixtures can accumulate conformal coating, flux residues and other process contaminants over time. Excessive buildup can make manual cleaning more difficult and may affect the condition and reuse of the pallets.
Cleaning Test at ACTSPRAY Factory
ACTSPRAY engineers carried out the test using the BC210 Pallet Cleaning Machine, together with LIJING SJ-20 cleaning agent and DI water for rinsing.
The main test parameters were:
- Cleaning machine: BC210 Pallet Cleaning Machine
- Cleaning agent: LIJING SJ-20
- Cleaning agent concentration: 20%
- Cleaning temperature: 70°C
- Cleaning time: 30 minutes
- Rinsing medium: DI water
- Rinsing temperature: 50°C
- Rinsing time: 5 minutes
- Air knife drying: 5 minutes
- Drying temperature: 70°C
- Air supply pressure: 0.5 MPa
The complete process of BC210 included washing, rinsing and drying.
Cleaning Results
The before-and-after comparison showed a significant reduction in conformal coating residue on the customer’s pallets.
Sample #1 achieved 99% cleaning efficiency, while Sample #2 achieved 99.5% cleaning efficiency based on visual inspection.
A small amount of stubborn conformal coating remained in some corners where the coating had accumulated excessively. Based on the test, ACTSPRAY recommends regular pallet washing to prevent excessive buildup and maintain easier, more consistent cleaning results.
